Choosing The Right Path

Many of graduating high school students here in the Philippines are having problems in choosing the appropriate college course for them. This is one of the reasons why they tend to choose the trending course. Like what happened 4-6 years ago, when NURSES were in demand. Not in the Philippines but in the other country where they can earn a high salary. Many of them didn't choose BS NURSING because they want to serve or they were good at science-related subjects when they were in high school level (which must be the real reason of choosing the course). When you ask most of them regarding their reasons of choosing the course, they will say that they were forced by their parents, don't know what is appropriate for them, don't know what the other courses were aside from the trending course, and many more.

The parents should play an important role in assisting their children when they are in the stage of deciding the career they want 5-10 years from that time. The parents should assess the strengths of their child and from it, they may suggest different courses to choose from. This may lead to a much better decision that will have a big impact on the young teen-ager's future because they can excel more and can improve their strengths well.

Planning for the course to be taken is not easy. It should take not just 2-3 months before graduating but must be atleast 2-3 years ahead. Choosing a course is not a joke because your future will suffer if the wrong one will be chosen.

Many of nursing graduates are already suffering for sacrificing many things, not having a job even they're board passer, chose a different path (most of them entered the bpo industry "call center"), and not passing the local board exam because they don't like the course since the beginning (worst case). I hope we already learned from it and think many times before taking hrm and accountancy courses.

Orlando Magic made a blockbuster trade with Phoenix Suns and Washington Wizards

          Official trade was done last December 18, 2010 when the Orlando Magic traded Rashard Lewis for Washington’s Gilbert Arenas and Vince Carter, Mikael Pietrus, Marcin Gortat, 2011 first round draft and Cash to Phoenix Suns’ Hedo Turkoglu, Jason Richardson and Earl Clark.

          The Magic felt a need for improvements after losing seven of their last ten games and to compete against the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat in the playoffs. They brought back Hedo Turkoglu who didn’t found his game with the Toronto Raptors and had a difficulty in bringing the ball with the Phoenix Suns due to Steve Nash’ presence. They also brought Gilbert Arenas who will be their back up point guard and Jason Richardson who is expected to hit big shots from the three-point area and attacks the paint.

          The Phoenix Suns are hopeful with the addition of Vince Carter, Mikael Pietrus and Marcin Gortat. Although Vince Carter is not the same superstar like what we saw many years ago but he can still help and the most important for the Suns is his expiring contract which they may use to improve their roster while Pietrus and Gortat can be mixed well with the Suns because of Pietrus’ outside shooting and Gortat’s size for defence and rebound.

          Rashard Lewis was the biggest loser in this trade because he is now a member of the worst team in the NBA after playing with a high calibre team for many seasons. But he can be a good addition with the Wizards because he can add height, good outside shooting and average rebounding. The Wizards don’t really need Gilbert Arenas anymore because they want to build John Wall’s confidence at the guard position and they already have Kirk Hinrich at the same position.

          The newly acquired Magic stars had their debut earlier against the Atlanta Haws but they fell short after losing by 10 points (81-91).

            I graduated on March of 2009 with a degree on Bachelor of Science in Nursing then I took the June 2009 Nursing Licensure Examination but unfortunately, I failed. After the examination, I was thinking of something to earn with and I’ve decided to enter the electronic business which was e-loading. When my business got stabled, I earned bigger with less effort because I’m just doing my daily routines, sitting at home, reviewing for my November 2009 NLE and enjoying my life of course!

            I used the money I earned to apply for a real job while waiting for the result of the NLE I took. I used some of it for the requirements I needed for the job without asking money from my parents. When I already have my job, I can still continue my e-loading business and I actually improved the target customers despite of my bigger duties because I was able to e-load my workmates and other friends I recently knew. Maybe you’re wondering how was I able to sell an e-load at home? My mom was actually the one who sold the e-load to my neighbours when I’m at work because Loadcentral has an Internet Webtool which you may access using your desktop computer, laptop or if you have a smartphone. Tips for a Job Interview

By the beginning of the year of 2011, many unemployed person will seek for a job. But many of them don’t know how to prepare for a job interview. They maybe excellent in written examinations, they can answer the questions smartly and maybe, they know to themselves that they are really fit with the job. But many of them don’t know how to prepare well for an interview because they don’t know what will be the questions are or haven’t assessed themselves yet about their weaknesses when it comes to an interview. You have to ask yourself whether you’re confident for an interview and if you already know well your background. You have to prepare those things for you to answer the unexpected questions which the interviewer will throw to you because all the questions will be about you and the job.  

Those are the basic things you have to know for an interview. Always remember that the interview is about “YOU AND THE JOB”. After knowing the information about yourself and the job, you now have to learn the most important part of a conversation which is the Communication Skills and Building of Rapport. You can build a rapport through a great way of communicating with the interviewer. You have to be aware about the signals or clues you give and receive. These signals are the verbal and non-verbal clues like the eye contact (most important), body language, voice patterns, face expressions, and etc. Having good communication skills is not just easy because you have to practice it over and over again. Just face the mirror while practicing it so that you may see those signals and from that, you can modify those unnecessary signals you’ve usually made.

When you’re already equipped with your personal background and all the skills you need for an interview, it’s now time to prepare for a real interview. Clothing is also important in an interview because it also gives a message and it reflects what kind of person you are. You have to assume that you’re already hired for that position and you have wear the right attire for it (example: if you’re applying for a position of a manager, you have to be dressed like a manager but if you apply for a nursing job or other job with a unique uniform, don’t wear a scrub suit or the uniform for that kind of job. At least, wear a decent attire but this time, you may use the colour to represent your personality and whichever colour may fit to that specific job). Being nice in the eyes of an interviewer is already a point because he will be comfortable and confident that you’re the right person he’s looking for.

During the interview, greet the interviewer with a smile in your face and with a shine in your eyes. Always remember that it’s not important to impress the interviewer with your quick motion, speaking quickly and using of slang words to stand out. Just be yourself and remember that you’re already equipped with anything you need. Just move appropriately, speak decently with a good voice pattern, use an eye contact, and always remember to smile. If you use those skills properly, it will please the interviewer and it will also show how confident you are. Don’t be surprised when you were asked this kind of question “tell something about yourself?” because it’s a common introduction of the interviewer to know your capabilities and your personal background. Yes it’s a broad question but remember that you may ask the interviewer if what kind of person he’s looking for instead of asking “what about yourself”. From it, you would know what to tell that may fit to the person an interviewer is looking for. You may tell your strengths, experiences, hobbies and other backgrounds which are relevant to the kind of personality he’s looking. Don’t worry for the other questions because if you started good, you can now go with the flow and you’ll just have a chat with the interviewer like friends about of course, YOU AND THE JOB.

Earlier, my girlfriend and I went to Toy Kingdom at SM Megamall to buy the gifts for her niece and for my brother. Toy Kingdom at SM Megamall is great because aside from being a complete toy shop for everyone, SM Megamall has two Toy Kingdom stores which is nice because you don't have to worry if there are lot of people buying in the other store or the toy you're looking for is not available. The new Toy Kingdom store can be found at the Basement level of Building A. It is near the food court that's why you won't have a hard time to find it.

Of course, we tried the newest Toy Kingdom store! We shopped all the gifts we need from this store because  almost everything is already here like the old Toy Kingdom at the ground floor. I'm happy to say that they have a good sales girl (I don't know if the others are as good as she). She was so entertaining from the products she was selling and she also assisted us to have a cart for our convenience. Thanks to her for that!

But the thing I didn't liked was the girl at the gift wrapping area because she doesn't know what to do, she was so slow, and didn't even bother if she was making a presentable gift. She made my day bad because she used a lot of time for wrapping the gift which she didn't actually do (because she used a pre-made gift wraps). The other lady beside her who also wrapped a gift was already done for 3 or 4 customers with lot of toys to be wrapped and that made my mood worst. Anyway, she was the only one there who was as slow as turtle.

Conclusion:  If you're looking for a gift, birthday presents, or any toy you need, you can find it at Toy Kingdom The Amazing Toy Store. But beware of those staff who wraps a gift. Hehehe! The moment you see that she doesn't know what she's doing, ask her immediately "if she can really make it?" for you to be calm.

Can Manu Ginobili continue his MVP-type game this Season?

Manu Ginobili proves that he is a worthy player of the San Antonio Spurs after becoming the best team in the NBA so far (22W - 3L). The last two games were crucial for the Spurs to win but Manu had managed to win the game with his step-backed jump shot against the Milwaukee Bucks and his acrobatic shot in Denver.

Some people say that Ginobili is not deserving to become a MVP candidate because of the powerhouse roster of the San Antonio Spurs and the help he can get from his teammates. This is already the same roster we saw last season with a high expectation from Richard Jefferson and Antonio McDyess' arrival but lot of people were disappointed because they had an ups and downs 09-10 season. Maybe because of the injuries they had last season and Manu Ginobili was not healthy. It only shows that when Manu is at his best shape, he can be a threat to any team from the start of the first quarter up to the last seconds of the fourth.

This is a career season for Manu averaging 20 points per game, 4.8 assist and 3.6 rebounds in 25 games of San Antonio Spurs. So far, Ginobili didn't miss a game and if he can stay healthy the whole season and on the playoffs, the Spurs have high a chance to be in the Western Conference Finals or maybe NBA Finals.
